Aetna Insurance:

Dr. Claudia Brasfield accepts Aetna Insurance and is a Core Network Provider for Emory University.  For Emory University Students, the co-payment is $18.50 per session and for all other Aetna Insurance holders the co-payment varies based upon your individual plan.  For Aetna insurance claims, Dr. Brasfield will file insurance claims directly on your behalf.

Out of Network Insurance:

For other insurance companies, Dr. Brasfield can provide you with the documentation you may require in order to file out of network claims with your insurance carrier.  If you plan to use insurance benefits to help with the cost of therapy you will want to obtain some information related to your benefits before starting therapy. This will help you determine how much of the cost you will incur yourself. Call your insurance company and ask the following questions to get started:

  • Do you have mental health benefits (sometimes also called "behavioral health" benefits)?
  • What is the amount of your deductible (the amount of money you have to pay before your insurance company will start to reimburse you) for out of network providers? Have you already paid any of this deductible?
  • Do you need any kind of special referral (i.e., from a primary care doctor or your University Counseling Center) before you can be reimbursed?
  • How much of each therapy session will your insurance provider reimburse (this is typically a percentage)?
  • Are there any limitations to services (e.g., only a certain amount of money allowed for mental health reimbursements, a limited number of sessions, reimbursement only for certain types of diagnoses, etc.)?

Fee and Payment:

  • The standard per session fee is $180
  • All major credit cards, checks, and cash in exact amount are all accepted
